Hard rock group Chevelle will be playing The Bottling Company with 10 Years next Wednesday. Tickets cost $25 with a $5 surcharge at the door for those under 18.

Hard rock fans, along with anyone looking for a promising distraction before Dead Week, will not want to miss Chevelle and Ten Years in concert Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Bottling Company For those not acquainted with the band and their style, Chevelle is perhaps one of the most quintessential rock bands from what can only be humorously described as the post-post-grunge era. Chevelle's overtones hint of Tool (if Tool was more marketable) and the energy and vitriol of Skillet (if Skillet's religious convictions were more opaque). Originally lumped together with religious hard rock bands of Skillet's ilk, Chevelle has since shed their Christian label and has produced their past three albums through mainstream record label Epic. Indeed, Chevelle has gone through many changes over the past few years, but it has not tarnished their appeal, as evidenced by their platinum-selling album Wonder What's Next and the gold This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In). Chevelle was initially comprised of home-schooled brothers Pete, Sam, and Joe Loeffler, and fans of the group will be the first to notice that, among many other changes, the band of brothers is now one brother short. Joe, the youngest Loeffler, has been replaced by brother-in-law Dean Bernadini. Joe's rumor-sparking departure has certainly not affected the band's talent, as proven by Chevelle's successful release of their fourth full-length album, Vena Sera. The band is reportedly close to releasing their highly anticipated fifth album. Passionate Chevelle fans waiting for songs such as "The Red" and "The Clincher" can quench their impatience by not only raising their index and pinky fingers for talented metal band Ten Years, but also by taking advantage of the Bottling Company's generously discounted refreshments. According to the venue's website, USM students, faculty, and staff can enjoy 50 percent off of all food purchases, with the exception of alcoholic drinks, for the entirety of April. The price for the concert is $25, with a $5 dollar surcharge at the door for those under 18.
