2012 Grammy nominees announced

Official nominees for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards were announced on CBS Wednesday.

Rapper Kanye West earned the most nominations for both his solo work and his collaboration with fellow rapper Jay-Z. The duo's single "Otis" was nominated for Best Rap Performance. "All of the Lights," West's collaborative single, will compete against "Otis" for Best Rap Song. Overall, West scored a total of seven nominations.

British songstress Adele came in second, earning six nominations, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Bon Iver, indie singer-songwriter, also received recognition at the nomination ceremony in the categories for Best Alternative Album, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist.

Alternative rock band the Foo Fighters also had a big evening, receiving multiple nominations including Album of the Year. They ended the night with six nods.

Pop artists Lady Gaga and Rihanna will also compete for Album of the Year. Additionally, Rihanna gained nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Rap Song Collaboration and Best Rap Song.

Deceased soul singer Amy Winehouse received a posthumous nomination for her collaboration with classic crooner Tony Bennett.
