UTEP 28, Tulsa 24
The UTEP Miners continued their surprising run through conference play with a 28-24 win over favored Tulsa Thursday night in El Paso, Texas.
The Miners jumped out to a 13-0 lead before Tulsa responded with 24 unanswered points, but it was UTEP that sealed the win with a pair of late touchdowns.
At 2-1 in C-USA play with wins over Houston and Tulsa, UTEP is in the driver's seat in the West. With upcoming games against hapless UAB and Tulane, they could stay that way for a while.
Marshall 27, UAB 7
Marshall's Brandon Anderson threw for 315 yards and a pair of touchdown's as the Herd Thundered past UAB 27-7 in Huntington, W. Va. Saturday.
Anderson had no trouble picking the Blazers apart, and Marshall running back Darius Marshall provided another installment to what is already an impressive season with 133 yards rushing on 32 carries with a score.
At 3-1 in conference play, Marshall looks like a team Southern Miss will have to beat if it hopes to win the East.
UCF 49, Rice 7
Central Florida wideout A.J. Guyton caught four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in a 49-7 win over the winless Rice Owls.
The Golden Knights rushed for 213 yards, with two runners averaging over 10 yards a carry.
How bad is Rice?
They rank dead last (120th) in scoring defense allowing a whopping 46.5 points per game.
Houston 38, SMU 15
Heisman Trophy hopeful Case Keenum got back on track against SMU by throwing for 233 yards and a touchdown in a 38-15 win in Houston on Saturday.
Houston running back Charles Sims ran for 105 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns.
