Cross country earns second place finish in season opener

Senior Stephanie Ledgerwood ran to a second place finish in the women’s 3k cross country race at the Crimson Tide Kick-Off in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Lady Eagles finished in second place as a team at the meet with 52 points-27 points off of first place Alabama. Southern Miss beat Conference USA foe UAB, Samford, West Alabama and Alabama A&M.
Six Lady Eagles competed on the day. Ledgerwood led the way, followed by senior Krista Moylan (11:21.60) in tenth place, freshman Felice Johnson (11:22.45) in eleventh, freshman Rebecca Ulrich (11:43.26) for thirteenth, senior Jocelyn Lockhart (11:52.05) for seventeenth, and freshman Katie Canavin (12:10.01) for twenty-second.
UAB’s Sarah Hudok won the race in 10:47.02.
The Golden Eagles home cross country meet was canceled because of complications from Isaac. The team continues the season on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
