Go ahead, let your inner fangirl out, because the rumors are true; there will be a sequel to “Boy Meets World.”

Disney confirmed the news Monday evening that Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel and Michael Jacobs have all signed on for “Girl Meets World.”

“I’m going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The ‘Boy Meets World’ sequel is officially happening!” Savage tweeted Monday evening.

The new series will focus on Cory and Topanga’s 13-year-old daughter, Riley Matthews, and will be told from her viewpoint.

It has also been said that Cory will be a history teacher, following in the footsteps of the beloved George Feeney.

The only original cast members that have been confirmed are Savage and Fishel, but no one has been counted out just yet. It is very likely that classic characters such as Mr. Turner and Shawn Hunter could make an appearance as well. We can only hope that Eric Matthews will make an appearance as the crazy uncle.

Also in the works is a character to represent Shawn Hunter. It is reported that Riley Matthews will have an edgy and rebellious best friend named Maya.

As a diehard “Boy Meets World” fan, I am ecstatic about this news. I am at the point in my life where I really need a dose of Cory Matthews. This news could not have come at a better time.

I know you’re thinking, “I’m 21 years old. There is no way I’ll watch the Disney Channel. I’m too old for that.” If that is what you believe, I urge you to give it a second chance. As an avid Disney viewer at the age of 21, they could really use this. Classic shows such as “Even Stevens,” “The Famous Jett Jackson,” “So Weird” and “Bug Juice” are long gone. Have you viewed Disney programming lately? It is frightening. They need a return to the classic era, and this is the way to go.

Production is still in the early stages for “Girl Meets World,” and a nationwide casting call for Riley Matthews is expected to occur in the next few months. If you think you look like a 13-year-old girl, give it a try!
