Love words and writing? Think you might be interested in a career in journalism? Feel passionate about serving and entertaining students through print and online media? Want to learn something new? Or would you just like to join a group on campus that loves to have fun while working toward a common goal? The Student Printz could be the place for you. We publish two days a week, are entirely student-run and are always looking for students eager to get involved. If you would like to get involved with one of the most influential organizations on the University of Southern Mississippi's campus.

News

The Student Printz news team has one goal: to give the most in-depth coverage to all things Southern Miss. This goal provides the content for our front page as well as working with other sections to collaborate on longer in-depth stories and news packages. If you'd like to report on student-related news going on campus e-mail news@studentprintz.com to learn about covering student government, campus crime, USM athletics-related issues and other happenings at Southern Miss.

Opinions

Interested in making your views heard to nearly 16,000 students and members of the surrounding Hattiesburg community? The Student Printz's Opinion section welcomes columnists and cartoonists interested in both local and national issues. E-mail opinion@studentprintz.com to get in touch with the editor.

Sports

Do you follow the Golden Eagles religiously? Would you like to interact with players, coaches and fans? If you said "yes" to either of those questions, then we want you on the sports desk. E-mail sports@studentprintz.com and start covering USM athletics.

Arts

The Student Printz's Arts page covers local entertainment - including national acts who come to Hattiesburg - as well as reviewing new music, movies, literature and video games. Whether you'd like to cover the local band scene at your favorite bar or let the campus know what you think of the latest blockbuster movie or CD, e-mail arts@studentprintz.com.

Photo

Whether you're a seasoned photographer or have never picked up a camera, The Student Printz's photo desk welcomes all students interested in reporting through a lens. Printz photographers have done everything from covering breaking news events on campus and shooting sporting events at home and on the road to photographing presidential candidates as they pass through Hattiesburg on the campaign trail. Do you podcast? Do you make online videos? Do you want to help expand our online coverage through new media? Then the multimedia desk is for you. Copy Desk

The Student Printz copy desk is responsible for making the publication give the information in the stories, but with a creative flair. Our copy desk is responsible for arranging the pages of our publication that make them interesting and accessible to the reader. The copy desk is not all about design. Grammar is an important part of our publication as well. If you love to point out our spelling errors and grammar mistakes, make us better by showing us what we did wrong. If you're interested in helping put together and edit the only newspaper on campus, e-mail copydesk@studentprintz.com.
