Game time announced for Boise State game

Conference USA announced Monday that the Oct. 6 football game against Boise State has been scheduled for 11 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Network.

This is the first regular season game the Golden Eagles have played before noon since the 2010 season, when they played ECU, Memphis and ECU. The Eagles played last year’s conference championship game in Houston at 11 a.m, where Southern Miss won 49-28 against Houston.

This will be the third game between Boise State and Southern Miss, with the Eagles losing in Boise in 2007 and at home in 2008.

 

Southern Miss Football Block Party

The Southern Miss Athletic Department will host a block party today at  5 p.m. outside the Athletic Center. Free pizza, drinks and promotional items will be available. The Pride of Mississippi pep band, cheerleaders and Seymour will be in attendance. A tunnel will be formed for the football players to walk through as they exit the practice field at 5:25 p.m.

 

Zeta Phi Beta sponsors 2012 High Heel-a-Thon

The Lambda Theta of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will host their annual High Heel-a-Thon at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 at Kamper Park. Participants will walk for one mile in high heeled shoes to raise money for Dress for Success Worldwide, a nationwide initiative aimed at helping women enter the job market.

Aid stations, breakfast and a sports bottle will be provided for participants. The registration fee is $10, and early registrants will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift certificate to Fetiche Shoe Boutique. Prizes will be awarded for Prettiest Heels, Highest Heels, Cutest Outfit, Best Strut and Miss High Heel-a-Thon 2012. Donations of gently used women’s business clothing will also be taken.

Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance voter registration drive

The Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance will be hosting a voter registration drive Oct. 1 through 5 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. in the Thad Cochran Center. Information about how to obtain an absentee ballot will also be provided.

 

Dropping classes

The last day to drop full-semester classes without academic penalty is Oct. 3.
