Homegrown indie rock band Colour Revolt played to a packed house at the Thirsty Hippo on Wednesday night.

Colour Revolt is a group of guys hailing from Oxford, MS.  They built a strong local following playing shows around the state before they were signed to Fat Possum Records.  Freddie Gentile, a senior from Ridgeland said, “They’re so passionate and soulful.  Easily the best music to come out of Mississippi.”

As the band began to set up the stage equipment, fans poured in to crowd around the performance.  Room was scarce as the bar neared maximum capacity.  Missy Martinez, a freshman from Mobile said, “I’ve never heard them live before.  I hear it’s the best live show for small venues.”

When the music started fans sang along with the songs they knew and chanted for the familiar hits.  Colour Revolt, surrounded by familiar faces, obliged to the crowds demands.  Len Clark, Colour Revolt’s drummer stated, “We love playing in Hattiesburg.  We’ve been all over now, but this is still our favorite part of the country.”
