Lady Eagle basketball one-and-done

East Carolina used a record day on the scoreboard and tied another mark as the fifth-seeded Pirates defeated No. 12 seed Southern Miss, 102-64, in game two of the 2010 GMC Sierra Conference USA

Women’s Basketball Championship Monday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

ECU’s 102 points are two more than the previous mark set by DePaul in a 100-75 win over Houston on Feb. 28, 1997. The Pirates’ 24 assists tied a tournament record.

With the loss, Southern Miss, meanwhile, concludes its 2009-10 season at 9-21.


Softball Eagles fall in tourney opener

The Southern Miss softball team lost 2-1 to host Arkansas in the final game of the Razorback Invitational Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles dropped to 12-6 on the season while Arkansas improved to 11-8. Gabby Luciani (4-2) took the loss striking out a season-high 11 batters.


Lady Eagle tennis blanks another foe


For the third match in a row, the Southern Miss Women’s Tennis team swept their opponent 7-0. The

University of Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans left Hattiesburg with no points to show for their efforts as the Lady Eagles kept on rolling Saturday, March 6, at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
