Houston 45, No. 5 Oklahoma St. 35
Houston gave Conference USA its first marquee win over a big-time opponent, dispatching the fifth-ranked Cowboys.
Cougar quarterback Case Keenum was named national offensive player of the week after throwing for 366 yards and three touchdowns.
West Virginia 35, East Carolina 20
The Pirates tried, but they just couldn't recapture the magic of last year's upset.
Mountaineer quarterback Jarrett Brown threw for a 334 yards and four touchdowns. West Virginia paid back East Carolina with a 35-20 win that was never really in doubt.
No. 14 Va.a Tech 52, Marshall 10
The Thundering Herd defense was gashed for 444 rushing yards and the No. 14 Hokies embarassed Marshall in Blacksburg, Va.
Marshall fell to 1-1 with the loss, and has a week to recover before taking on MAC opponent Bowling Green.
No. 9 BYU 54, Tulane 3
With its high-octane offense hitting on all cylinders, the No. 9 BYU Cougars demolished Tulane, who did not force their opponent into a single punting situation.
The Green Wave (0-2) haven't had a winning season since 2002, but will try to save face next week against in-state opponent McNeese State.
Texas Tech 55, Rice 10
Texas Tech quarterback Taylor Potts shredded Rice for seven touchdowns to lead Texas Tech past the Owls 55-10.
Rice (0-2) used three quarterbacks, Nick Fanuzzi, John Thomas Shepherd and Ryan Lewis, but couldn't find an effective one to keep up with Texas Tech.
SMU 35, UAB 33
Quarterback Joe Webb and the UAB offense out-gained SMU, but Webb's four interceptions proved too much to overcome in a 35-33 loss to Southern Methodist.
SMU seems to be happy with quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, who threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns in the team's first win.
Tulsa 44, New Mexico 10
The Tulsa defense held New Mexico under 175 yards of total offense and rolled to a big win over the WAC foe.
The Golden Hurricane is rolling along at 2-0 after defeating Tulane 37-13 in week one.
Kansas 34, UTEP 7
As UTEP coach Mike Price put it, "they out-physicaled us." Kansas racked up 587 yards of offense en route to the win over the Miners.
UTEP (0-2) will travel to New Mexico State next week, before running the gauntlet against No. 2 Texas and No. 21 Houston.
Middle Tennessee State 31, Memphis 14
It's hard to believe this year's Memphis team has any of the players that defeated Southern Miss last season.
The Tigers (0-2) upcoming schedule is a little more forgiving, with back-to-back matchups against Tennessee-Martin and Marshall.

Please correct your story. This was SMU's SECOND win this year! It is SMU's first road win since 2006 (a victory over Tulane) and the Mustangs' first 2-0 start since 1996! SMU travels to Pullman, Washington to take on Washington State this Saturday.
