Women’s basketball dominates William Carey

Midway through the first half, the Lady Eagles found themselves in a close game, leading by only two points. The Lady Eagles then went on a 16-0 run and never looked back, cruising to a 76-46 victory over cross-town rival William Carey.

Southern Miss had four players in double figures, led by Jamierra Faulkner with 23 points, 9 assists and 7 steals. Tanecka Carey also added 14 points for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles shot an impressive 49.2% from the field throughout the game, including 58.3 percent in the first half. William Carey ended the game shooting 29 percent from the field.

 

Lady Eagles outlast New Orleans

After trailing for the majority of the game, the Lady Eagles fought back late in the second half to come away with a 69-59 victory over the University of New Orleans.

Southern Miss used a 16-6 run over the last six minutes to pull away from UNO. Nine of the sixteen points came from free throws, as USM went 9-14 on free throws over the last six minutes of play.

Ance Celmina recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jamierra Faulkner and Tanecka Carey added 17 points a piece for the Lady Eagles.
