Fraternity vacates house

On Oct. 17, a special administrative hearing was held regarding the Delta Mu chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (Pike) following the hearing of former pledge, Devin Nottis.

Nottis, 19, was arrested in connection with the theft and deaths of two flamingos from the Hattiesburg Zoo Oct. 8.

Pike president David Sliman, alumni advisors, Dean of Students Eddie Holloway and a three-person board were present for the hearing.

The panel deliberated and decided Tuesday to suspend Pike indefinitely.

“First, Pi Kappa Alpha was found responsible for failing to govern the behavior of its members, resulting in harm to the Southern Miss and Hattiesburg community,” said Joe Paul, vice president of student affairs.

Members are banned from hosting Pike meetings on or off campus and those living in the fraternity house must vacate by Friday at 5 p.m.

These students have been offered on-campus living at no additional cost. If they choose to move off campus, they will receive a refund.
